Our History
The History of the Write-On Group
Write On Waxahachie was formed in the early 1990s as a critiquing forum for the express purpose of helping writers become better at their craft.
Over the years the group has seen many changes. For the first few years, we were blessed to be able to meet in the assembly room of the old TXU building that is now Prosperity Bank.
At times, we've had as many as 24 in attendance. At other times, we've met with a core group of 4 or 6.
There have been times when finding a place to meet was a problem. For a time, we gathered at Hastings Book Store. We have met in homes, Waxahachie Bible Church, the Midlothian High School library, among other places. Our current meeting place, Sims Library, has proved to be a wonderful setting for us as established and budding authors.
Our group is fluid and ever-changing, with some having reached their goals and moved on. Out of our numbers have come many published authors, while others of us are still striving to reach that goal.
One thing that hasn't changed is our dedication to help each other become better writers through encouragement, combining our strengths. We believe, above all else, in being respectful of each other's efforts.
